Migraine headache pain is the worst, and vision loss from ocular migraines can be very frightening for people! Patients come to our office for chiropractic care from all over the Phoenix Valley, hoping that we can help them with their migraines. As one patient’s husband put it, “I used to suffer from horrible headaches, not anymore, thanks DrFred!” Migraine headaches are often one of the easiest conditions for a chiropractor to resolve.

While we don’t promise results, it is not uncommon for a headache treated by chiropractic care to disappear before the patient leaves our office.

Phoenix Chiropractor explains importance of breathing

There have been studies showing that a deep diaphragmatic breath pumps lymph threw out your body. Lymph is a clear fluid that is composed of a few different things. Most importantly it carries white blood cells which are the cells that kill viruses, bacteria and any other unwanted cells in your body. Therefore taking a deep diaphragmatic breath actually cleanses your body by pumping those white blood cells. Make sure each day to stop and take a few deep, cleansing breaths.

Phoenix chiropractor explains how to lose weight with out dieting

January 20, 2010 in Uncategorized by admin

Dieting does not work. The reason for this is as soon as the diet is over the patient resumes their old habits and the weight comes right back. The key is making lifestyle changes that can be sustained your entire life. This will ensure you lose the weight and keep it off. The way I do this is the 5 and 2 rule. 5 days a week I eat healthy food, that is cooked not microwaved or from a box. I eat 3 meals a day with 3 healthy snacks in between. The snacks are usually a piece of fruit. My meals are small. This keeps my blood sugar balanced through out the day. Then I exercise at least 3 time a week for 30 minutes. Then from Friday night till Sunday I eat whatever I want. Pizza and soda are fair game. I have been practicing this program since I was a child and it has allowed me to stay healthy and lean. Give it a shot your weight loss will be slower than a diet but it will be healthy and you will find a healthy weight for your body type. This will allow you to keep the weight off and live a long healthy life.

Chiropractic lowers blood pressure

January 19, 2010 in Uncategorized by admin

There was a study done in Chicago on the affect an upper cervical adjustment has on blood pressure. The study proved an upper cervical chiropractic adjustment can lower blood pressure as much as 2 medications. The best part is the chiropractic adjustment has none of the dangerous side effects that the medications do. This is possible because the nerves that come out of the upper neck give parasympathetic innervation to the heart. This means these nerves carry impulses, messages from the brain, that slow down the heart and therefore lower blood pressure. If a person has a subluxation, which is a bone out of alignment that puts pressure on nerves, in this area it can prevent the heart from getting the messages to slow down. This will cause you to develop high blood pressure. If you or anyone you know has high blood pressure before they start taking the medications, get checked by a chiropractor to see if you have a subluxation in your upper neck. This might help you lower your blood pressure with out any side effects.

Phoenix chiropractor explains the phases of healing

January 12, 2010 in Uncategorized by admin

There are 3 phases in which soft tissue heals. First phase is the acute inflammatory stage it occurs for the first 72 hours of the recovery process. This phase is associated with a lot of pain, swelling and warmth. The second phase is the repair phase and it begins after the first 72 hours and goes on for about 6 weeks. This phase is characterized by the inflammation subsiding and the beginning of healing. Then the third phase, maturation, begins after the first 6 weeks and goes on for at least a year and can take up to three years to be complete. This phase is characterized by continued healing and maturation of scar tissue. After this the tissue will never be as strong as it was before the injury. At best with complete healing the tissue will regain 50% to 70% of it’s original tensile strength. Thus this area will always be the most susceptible area for re-injury. If you or anyone you know has had a car accident or other serious trauma please have them evaluated by a local chiropractor. If the tissue is torn, then an orthopedic referral will be necessary if not. Then most likely there are bones in the spine out of alignment damaging soft tissue. Chiropractic will be the least invasive, most effective and most affordable way to correct the problem and allow the body to heal itself.

Wow! DrFJ Schofield just arrived home from Sacramento California where he attended a whiplash injury seminar given by one of the nation’s leading authories on whiplash Dr. Jeri Anderson of Capital Chiropractic and creator of the nation’s best whiplash information website www.whiplashrecovery.com. Speaking at the seminar was another amazing whiplash expert ,a Sacramento personal injury attorney Travis Black who runs Travis Black & Associates law firm www.TravisBlacklaw.com . Dr. Jeri from Capital Chiropractic and Travis Black from Travis Black & Associates are such caring people and really taught me how to understand what the patient is going thru from a clinical and law perspective. Both taught me to get the very best testing done and help the patient find a caring attorney who isn’t willing to jeopardize the health of the patient just for the money. Travis Black a Sacramento personal injury attorney was so knowledgeable about spinal injuries, head traumas and was very passionate about making sure he really gets to know his clients before accaepting their case. Dr. Jeri Anderson from Capitol chiropractic taught us that the most harmful injuries to your body occur in a car accident between the speeds of 6-12mph! The weekend was also filled with chiropractic adjustments to help our spines stay healthy. I recieved some of the best adjustments this weekend from some chiropractors like Dr. Kathy Mcauliffe a chiropractor from Columbia Illinois www.mcauliffechiropractic.com, and Dr. Schofield of Phoenix Arizona and www.mochihchu.com.
